 Paul Faulkner

"Do you fancy playing a DJ in a film we're doing at the weekend?"   And with that poser from Colin, Paul Faulkner's involvement in Shivilenco began, on an otherwise unremarkable day back in the Summer of 2002.   As a wannabe radio presenter and a prospective journalist, Paul was asked to do no more than "play himself" [careful] - and he has been doing that ever since.

In spite of having no acting training, nor any desire to pursue a career on the screen (except for reading the news), Paul has become a Shivilenco regular, earning bigger roles than probably he had any right to.   Colin prides himself on being able to get the best out of 'non-actors' by casting them in roles which he considers fitting for their everyday character.   Somewhere along the way, that logic became skewed in the case of Paul, who had soon graduated to playing hitmen and double-crossing bank robbers.   Paul prefers to think that he is playing himself in extraordinary circumstances.

In recent years, Paul has become more involved in a behind the camera capacity, earning himself writing credits in several Shivilenco productions and also turning his hand to script editing. Ironically, Paul is not a film fan, having seen only a handful of films in his entire life - too great a proportion of which involve talking animals.   Paul prefers realistic television drama and duly attempts to inject this quality into much of Shivilenco's output - a nigh on impossible task with Colin's vivid imagination, though he does manage to reign him in sometimes!

Paul's greatest contribution to Shivilenco probably lies in the fact that he is the company's resident driver and de facto location manager, opening up the potential of exotic locations like, er, Formby.   He also puts his letter-writing and administrative skills to good use on projects like this very website.   If and when circumstances ever allow (like an abundance of money and professional actors), Paul will disappear behind the camera completely.

Finest Shivilenco performance - Hit and Miss

Most memorable Shivilenco line - "I attached some semtex and a small electrical device to his body while he slept - so he woke up and he blew up." (Hit and Miss
